Tammis Keefe = Peg Thomas
A female textile designer born in 1913. When it comes to American mid-century collectible fabrics, the first name that comes to mind is Tamis Keefe, also known by her nickname Tammy. Since she died at a young age in 1960, her works are limited to the 1940s and 1950s, and collectors appreciate the fact that her designer’s sensibilities and the sensibilities of the times are strongly reflected in her works. Maybe it’s the charm.
Her designs are characterized by a 50s-like color scheme of pink, turquoise, gold, and black, as well as cute, humorous animal characters, illustrations of angels, and motifs inspired by nature.
Among vintage fabric collectors, her handkerchiefs, kitchen cloths, tablecloths, and other linens, as well as silk scarves, are highly valued.
